you might recognize the digital layout above i did last year for my love of markets. i thought it fitting for this post today. albeit it's not summer market season has begun! my favorite time of year with friends. looking for the next treasure. being held back from things i don't need, whew. i simply enjoy the time out, the open-air feel of treasure hunting, meeting new vendors and most importantly time with friends.
this past saturday we hit the ballpark market - denver's original urban market which is located in/near denver’s historic ballpark neighborhood. also, a few blocks from an awesome breakfast eatery called snooze - if you haven't been there - it's a must!
my favorite treasure from this past saturday is a fused glass ring! for those wondering, NO i did not buy vintage luggage, old windows or rulers. i love art glass and jewelry so this was the perfect combination of the two. i don't have a photo of it but will post later. the artist is:
megan gassett of mb glass designs - AMAZING! i chatted with her a few minutes, asking a lot of questions and drooling over her lovelies. *sigh*. i had seen her work somewhere before (megan, i remembered!) - whole foods carries her designs. check out her website to find other locations on where to get some of her lovely glass flair (pendants, earrings, rings) because i know you will all be asking when you see my ring - hee, hee. she even has a place to purchase online - miss olivia's line - wonder if that has anything to do with my love for olivia the pig, hmmm, i'll have to ask her. i wish i could have purchased more. my list is forming though and i will be a repeat customer. megan is very sweet, motivated and open to discuss. i talk to a lot of artists at markets and find that some can be a bit stand-offish, shy or scared to share secrets, etc. i'm weird i know. but not megan, she was happy to share her love of creating, tips, etc. her personality evokes fun, happy and inspiration. thanks megan and cheers to you!
the girls did a very good job keeping me away from the vintage luggage, old windows and rulers - really they did. but when i get more of a cushion with market money, watch out. shhhh, hopefully the hubby is not watching. i'm suppose to be getting RID of things, not getting more things.
we headed to the colorado antique gallery (250 of colorado’s top antique dealers) off of broadway after market. some of these people also have booths at the markets we visit. i really should have people sign a waiver before i introduce them to this gallery - ha! i hope you are not cursing me after all the treasures you got - GULP! this is a place that you need to plan for, a field trip if you will. we were in the gallery for SIX hours. a total of TEN hours at market/antique gallery/resale boutique, etc. what a day!
we also found a new recycle boutique - opened in january. it's right next door to the antique gallery. it's called: i love it recycle boutique. the owner, peggy was so nice to us and very sweet. and oh my goodness, all items of clothing $3 all the time, you know i love a good bargain. thanks beck!
check it out and tell peggy that silly group of girls sent ya:
